Frequently Asked Questions
What is a GoFish card?
It's a business-card-size card printed for a specific ZIP. It lists 911, 988 and 211, plus the nearest library, and it has a QR code that opens local food, shelter, job and other resources for that ZIP. It's what you hand over instead of cash.
Why a card instead of cash?
A few dollars only helps for a moment. The card points him to local services that already exist to help, today and ongoing. Teach a man to fish.
What if he doesn't have a phone?
The back of the card lists the nearest library branch and its address. Library wifi and computers can open the QR, and 211 works from any phone.
How much are cards?
50 cards for $35 ($0.70 each) or 100 cards for $49 ($0.49 each), with shipping included.
Can I see what my ZIP's card will point to before I order?
Yes. Use Preview my ZIP (/find). Enter your ZIP to see the same results the card's QR code opens.
How long does shipping take?
Cards are printed to order and shipped by our print partner. The delivery estimate shown at checkout is an estimate, not a guarantee. We currently ship to US addresses.
What if my cards arrive misprinted or damaged?
Send photos within 5 days of delivery, and we'll make it right with a reprint or a refund. See Shipping & Refund (/shipping-refund) for the details.
Where does the resource information come from, and is it always current?
We gather it from official city directories, emergency services and community outreach programs, and check it with automated collection plus manual review. Listings can change, so they're starting points. Call ahead, or dial 211 for live local referrals. If you find something out of date, email getgofishcard@gmail.com.
